What it takes to turn this building into a home

A house isn't a home until someone can eat a meal, sleep in a made bed, and hang up her clothes.

Here's exactly what stands between the building we have and the home the first women will walk into.

The biggest single need right now

What the home needs

A fence. $16,000.

A six-foot vinyl privacy fence around the property, roughly $16,000, alongside a security system.

It sounds like the least spiritual item on this page. It is arguably the most important one, and here is why.

Nearly every woman who comes to Mercy Manor will arrive from a house where somebody knew where she slept. She will have spent months, sometimes years, listening for a car in the drive. A fence and a camera are not decoration and they are not paranoia — they are the physical fact that lets her nervous system finally stand down. Nothing else we do works until she can sleep.

In Sharon's words: it will “give peace of mind that most have not had in a while.”

The one thing every list starts with

Prayer

Before furniture, before funding — Mercy Manor asks first for prayer over the women who will live here, the staff who will lead them, and the community that will surround them.

A gift often moves faster than a donated item

A financial gift lets us buy exactly what's needed, when it's needed, often at a lower cost than retail. If you'd rather give an item directly, contact us first so we can confirm what's still needed and coordinate delivery.

Everything on the list ships straight to Mercy Manor. If you'd rather give something that isn't on it — a truck, a trade, a Saturday — tell us and we'll find a use for it.
