Debilitating problems, named honestly
Drug or alcohol abuse. Prescription medication dependency. Suicidal thoughts. Eating disorders. Fear or depression connected to a past abortion, rejection, or physical or sexual abuse. And, very often, no roof over her head at all. If one or more of these sounds like her — or like you — it may be time.
Signs in her relationship to alcohol or drugs
Using to get through an ordinary day, not just a hard one. Needing more to feel the same relief. Promises to stop that don't hold. Losing a job, custody, or housing because of use — and using again anyway.
Signs of an unsafe relationship or past abuse
A partner who controls money, phone, or friendships. Fear of what happens if she leaves. Physical harm, threats, or isolation from family. Depression or fear connected to abuse that happened long ago and never got addressed.
Signs of housing crisis
Living in a car, a shelter, or moving between other people's couches. Choosing between rent and safety. No stable address for mail, a job application, or a school enrollment.
Signs it's simply time for a change
Sometimes there's no single crisis — just exhaustion. Wanting, quietly, for someone else to say "let's do this differently." That's enough of a reason to call.
This isn't rare. It's just quiet.
What Mercy Manor is — and isn't
Mercy Manor is a one-year, Christ-centered residential program for adult women with a sincere desire to change. It is not a medical detox facility, not a psychiatric treatment program, and not a replacement for professional mental health or addiction care. A hard truth stated plainly now is more useful than false hope later.
